Yes , and by travelling I meant by plane . There was a time I was on the plane 5 or 6 times a year an
d to such ' hot spots ' as the Middle East , East Asia , London and of course New York. My work then involved some flying so I can't help it . Although I must admit , I enjoyed the opportunity to visit different places. And free at that flying business class . Even then I worry a lot . Not because of terrorists but because of plane crashes . In the 90's the only terrorism related incidents I can recall is the Canadian Airline that crashed in Scotland killing all aboard . It's more like isolated case . Indian Sikh retiilating because of the destruction of their holy temple in their homeland . Then of course the pre cursor of 9/11 - the bombing of a Japan bound PAL killing one Japanese passenger . All in all , when they talk about terrorism then , it was just plain hijacking . The passengers are eventually released after satisfying the demands of the terrorists . Now , you're lusky if they find your body in one piece or several pieces . If not the terrorists , the government fighter plane will destroy a ' hijacked plane ' .The gover 
nment has no choice . It must prevent another 9/11 one way or another . Today there's news in Britain about the foiled attempt of some Pakistani descent individuals to blow up American planes bound for US . They now banned all liquids and gels aboard a plane . I hate to fly in today's world . I will definitely welcome the airport search wholeheartedly even if meant a 2-3 hours delay . Better than ending up in 2-3 pieces !

you would have at least a 3 hour delay after todays latest news..we caught some bad guys planning on hijacking a plane...what a mess...i dont fly...even before the hijacking...my daddy was a control operator and then flight chief in civilian life..he said it was bedlam in the tower and he wouldnt fly either...ha

I just don't like to fly. I guess that is kind of a phobia to me.
I used to love it. In fact, I had even considered at one time becoming a flight attendant.

Not a good flyer here either.... and that was way before 9/11.
I have a brother who flew to the west coast as part of his job. On 9/11 I called him and breathed a sigh of relief he was still at his desk in Boston, and not on a flight out to San Francisco that morning. He used to love flying, but will never do it again....it scared him that much. Besides he knew several people that died that day.....one was an insurance investigator that worked for him who was on the plane headed to the west coast.
I thought about a trip to Costa Rica in Jan, but maybe not now. Especially since I saw a show on TLC 'untold stories of the ER' where a woman came in thinking she had bugs crawling in her skull and they thought she was crazy, but actually she had worms they had to get out from under her scalp.. some bugs had apparently laid eggs in her head while she was in costa rica a few months earlier. Now today,, just another reason.
I'll just rent a cabin, that's fair enough. :)

Times are changing, for sure. I agree that it is better to just bear with the inconvenience of added security if it can prevent another attack.
All - I guess it is safe to say that none of us are members of the mile high club !
I was in Britain last summer during when the tubes got attacked. It seems to me most of the terrorist attacks in the UK occur during the summer, where they enjoy one month or more of vacation time.
And just when I'm going to continue on in my travels, there's a lot more crap I have to deal with. I must say, Oakland airport sucks.

i used to hate flying..
now i hate trying to get on the plane, even more..
i feel like they have won.. they made us run like frightened rabbits and throw our bottled water in the trash..
